About Memories Made

Shortly after I had my first child I began searching for a truly special and meaningful way of capturing my baby’s tiny hands and feet. I had heard of Lifecasting so like most parents I tried the store bought casting kits and like most parents, I failed miserably.
Next I decided to call a local franchise and enquire about the possibility of getting a professional Lifecasting done. Based on the prices it became very clear, very quickly, that they were way out of my budget.
Fast forward a couple of years to the birth of my second child. I began my search anew hoping that someone had developed a Lifecasting kit that was now fool-proof. No such luck. The results were the same. I was disappointed but I knew that there had to be a better option so I kept at it, did some research, and finally able to locate a teacher with years of experience who taught a course on Lifecasting. I immediately enrolled and after much practice I was finally able to realize the beautiful castings of my children that I had been trying so hard to create. The detail and quality was truly amazing.
I wanted to display my baby’s castings prominently in my home so I searched until I found a framer that was able to create beautiful custom made shadowboxes. I found a true artist and I still use this framer today, in the past several years he has made hundreds of frames for Memories Made.
I displayed my kids shadowboxes in my home and the reaction of friends and family was always the same; they wanted to know where I got them done. I had never been in business before but it didn’t take me long to realize that there was tremendous demand for this service. Memories Made was soon to be born.
Little did I know how much work was involved turning a business concept into an actual business but in the spring of 2008 I officially launched Memories Made. Like any new business the biggest challenge I faced was finding new customers. For the first year I relied on word of mouth, online advertising, my website and lots and lots of legwork. While parents were finding me and the business was growing I realized that if I truly wanted Memories Made to reach its potential I needed to get out and meet parents in person to show them how wonderful these things are! In the fall of 2009 I took a leap of faith, spent money I didn’t have, and signed up for a trade show that catered to new parents. I set up my first ever booth in downtown Toronto at the Convention centre during a cold and dreary November weekend. Over the course of those three days I had the opportunity to display my Lifecastings in my very crude looking booth and speak directly with thousands and thousands of new parents. The response was immediate and it was overwhelming.
To this day a large portion of my business comes from the various trade shows that I exhibit at but the true mark of our success is measured by the large number of parents that are come back to have their second or third baby cast as well. Those same customers are spreading the word and sending their friends and family my way as well. I have expanded my product offerings to include pregnancy castings, framed impressions, ornaments, name frames and even castings of the family pet. I have cast babies a few days old and grandparents in their 95th year. Kids holding hockey pucks or baseballs and some newborn baby bums. The success of Memories Made can be contributed to the fact that I love what I do and I am able to say I have never had an unhappy customer.
I take great pride when I think about all of the hard work and determination that it has taken to start Memories Made but what brings me the most satisfaction is the joy I have given to so many parents and knowing that the Lifecastings I have created will be enjoyed by their families for generations to come.
It would be my pleasure to help you hold on to your memories as well.
